Refining chains
Refining turns raw resources into the materials crafters actually use — and where you do it decides your profit.
How chains work
- Each raw resource has a station: Sawmill (Planks), Smelter (Metal Bars), Weaver (Cloth), Tanner (Leather), Stonemason (Stone Blocks).
- Refining a tier needs raw of that tier PLUS refined of the tier below — e.g. T5 Planks = T5 Logs + T4 Planks.
Return Rate (the key to profit)
- Base city return ~15%; a city's specialty resource adds +40% (≈36.7% return).
- Spending Focus pushes it to ~43% (base) or ~54% (specialty city). Silver Day +10%, Gold Day +20%. Personal islands return 0% without focus.
- Best practice: refine in the bonus city, on the bonus day, with focus, on specialized items.
City specialties
- Ore → Thetford, Wood → Fort Sterling, Hide → Martlock, Fiber → Lymhurst, Stone → Bridgewatch — refine each resource where its bonus lives.
